Winter, 18th Turn, 11th Pass

Upcoming Flights/Runs:
Red Ingoth

Upcoming Hatchings:

Winter is in full swing as the Northwest reaches the middle stages of the cold month, and Dalibor, taking full advantage of a crackdust filled break in Threadfall, is back at it again. Delving into the Southern ice and snow, they have paired with Grove Weyr to fully explore the lands they only slightly uncovered the previous turn during the Jungle Expedition. This, however, will not be a warm and relaxing waltz through the woods; although was it ever that to begin with?

Name: Anett
Gender: Female
Age: 28 (Spring, 190 10th Interval)
Sexuality: Bisexual
Location: Dalibor Weyr; previously Fort Weyr
Rank: Priderunner

Personality: Determined; Feisty; Relentless
On another planet in another era, a fantasy creature called a revenant was written into existence. Revenants, who will relentlessly track down their wrong-doers until the end of time, coming back from the dead over and over to do it... Yes, this is an accurate way to describe Anett.

You see, Anett is painfully relentless and determined to the point of poor judgment. Once she puts her mind to something, it is all anyone can do to change her mind. When she was little, it was all the creche workers could do to keep Anett contained. She regularly got adventures glued into her head and away she would go. It didn't matter that her adventures were often based in fantasy, if she had decided she was going to find a firelizard nest, she wouldn't stop until either she did, or more likely, someone finally managed to talk sense into her several sevendays after the fact. After all, wild firelizard nests didn't appear all too often at Fort.

Anett is also incredibly feisty. She loves to flirt, but in the "hard to get" way, teasing and taunting and staying just out of reach. That isn't to say she's unattainable, just that she will make a game out of it. Of course, her feistiness also translates in other ways... less fun ways. Like when she argued as a wherling would argue with the wherlingmaster over things that... really didn't need to be argued about. She's a bit of a trouble-maker.

Still, her determination makes her a hard worker, so if one can get her to fall in line (something which is slowly getting easier as she matures and settles into herself), then she is a worthy ally.

Anett has bright auburn hair that stands out against her olive skin. She is of average height, though a tough stocky build almost makes her appear short. She was not always so stocky, but several turns of handling Anesk has changed her physique significantly. Her eyes are dark, almost to the point that the color is not quite identifiable as anything other than "dark," but close inspection will reveal just enough hazel tones to make a call. A couple flecks of rogue brown stain her left iris, further cementing their status as "hazel."

Anett has a number of scars from her turns of work. Having bonded to Anesk nearly ten turns prior, Anett is used to hard work and has the calloused hands to show it. Her most notable scars go across her back in ripples and speckles. She was caught in a minor cave-in just two turns after Impressing Anesk and was nearly killed while trying to protect her precious friend. She survived because a particularly large boulder held up the worst of the cave-in from crushing her and her partner, but the initial spray of stone and the scraping that occurred when at last she was pulled out remain tattooed on her skin for the rest of her life.

Wanneta, mother
Almut, father
Wa'ut, brother, +3
Alenet, brother, -2
Welm, brother, -4
Walmu, brother, -7

Pets: N/a

Born second to Wanneta and Almut, Anett was, like her brother Wa'ut, raised back and forth between the two weyrfolk and the creche. Wanneta and Almut were easy-going enough, but after Walenut had turned out so... different, they had rather hoped that Anett would be a little less... hmm. Friendly? Irritating? Unfortunately for their parents, the secondborn child was, in her own way, as different as the first.

Anett proved herself to be rather obsessive from a very young age, and attached herself to the idea of whers at the tender age of four. She had heard another boy call them ugly, and you see, she did not like that boy. So, from then on, she loved whers. She drew whers in class, she asked to hear songs about them, she would tell stories that involved magical whers, and she would attend every hatching she could if her parents would let her. As obsessed as she was with whers, it was apparent that she had no interest in dragons.

This would be a source of troubles for Anett. Anett's peers largely wished to become dragonriders, and while there were the occasional odd ones out like her, they certainly weren't odd ones out by age five like she was. Most children her age had loftier ideals and dreams.

When Wa'ut Impressed Qith, Anett was excited, but not because he was a dragon. Just because she was happy for her big brother. And also because it would mean her annoying big brother would be too busy to annoy her.

She'll never forget when Thread began to fall. She was too young to stand to the wher egg, but she was still eager to do so. The easy turns of the interval over, Anett was horrified when peers of hers lost parents to the awful parasite in the first few deadly falls. She was likewise horrified when news traveled to Fort that a dragonet was killed by a wild wher at Dalibor Weyr. She couldn't imagine why her perfect whers would do such a thing.

To learn that wild whers and bonded whers could be so different was traumatic to say the least. Between Thread and the news of Sicriath, Anett fell into a spell of depression that would only ease when news came to Fort that Dalibor had Hatched two new colors of whers two turns later. This reinvigorated the young wher Candidate who had yet to Impress at this point.

It would be shortly after her recovery that Anesk would come into her life, a tiny little Black who was quiet and... well. Judge-y as all heck.

It would be Anesk who would force Anett to begin to grow out of her obsessive nature. Unfortunately, it would also be Anesk who would encourage his partner to argue with the wherlingmaster; after all, clearly they knew better. So the two began a long life of getting in trouble. They would never see promotions, and barely scraped by graduation. The wingy wher and his feisty handler were rarely trusted with anything of importance.

When Anett was eighteen and Anesk was four, disaster struck while doing a routine cavesweep to ensure safety for miners who were considering a system near Fort. It was not, it turned out, safe. A clumsy moment led to the roof caving in. Only pure luck kept Anett and Anesk alive, and it took hours to dig them out. They were blamed for the cavein until Anesk was questioned at length by his leader, and it was determined to truly have been a case of bad luck and timing.

News continued to pour in all this time of Dalibor's chaotic existence. Murders and deaths. Anett became obsessed, starting to track the deaths as she could. It was difficult, as she could only go off of what she heard. But it was fascinating to her that one Weyr could have such persistent troubles. Additionally fascinating were the attempts Dalibor's whers engaged in with the wild whers, alliances with wild whers... The idea intrigued Anett.

Then came the storm of Thread. The Weyrwoman of Fort was killed in the erratic storm, and her brother was scored dangerously. Dalibor came out comparatively unscathed in terms of life and limb, something which Anett's curiosity kept her abreast of. Eventually, her brother Wa'ut traveled to Grove Weyr, and then to Dalibor.

Despite the way Wa'ut had annoyed her during their shared turns in the creche, they had grown into adults (shockingly enough), and she loved him dearly. But more importantly, she was fascinated with Dalibor Weyr, and so the moment he suggested she transfer, she did.

Wher Name: Anesk
Wher Age: 15 (Spring, 3, Interval)
Wher Color: Black
Wher Length: 5'
Wher Personality:Judgmental; Observant; Opinionated
Anesk is acerbic. He is not very pleasant to be around, as he tends to use his observant nature to observe the least flattering things he can. He has strong opinions about just about everything, and it's almost certain that your opinion is wrong. Anesk certainly has a superiority complex, making it rather hard to befriend him. Sure, blacks are usually not so aloof as grays, but Anesk becomes aloof more by necessity, since others are far less likely to want to engage with him.
Wher Appearance:
Anesk is predominantly a straight jet black (000000), however every single one of his toes looks as if they were dipped in dark gray powder. Otherwise his coloring is unremarkable. He is a small creature, only 5' if he stretches out to his fullest (not counting his also stumpy tail), making him shorter than Anett is tall by several inches. However, his wings are disproportionately large, making them rather lovely in the eyes of those who normally find wher wings unsightly. They certainly look graceful arranged along his back as they often are.
Wher History:
Yes. Yes, she will do, the wherlet decided as he looked up at Anett. She was determined and feisty and she had the correct opinion of whers and dragons. The others around him, too many of them believed the creatures to be equals. Only Anett seemed to think that he was superior, and of course, she was right. He was superior!

The Impression formed quickly and easily; a smooth cut that wouldn't scar, an eager wherlet... that would be all that would be easy. When the wherlingmaster was a total dirt-for-brains, he encouraged Anett to argue with him. When they were doing their training later in life, he would again encourage such behavior.

He was displeased when Anett began to argue back at him. He loved her well enough, however, to give some creedence (not much!) to her opinions. Perhaps... just maybe... she was right that they shouldn't argue with their "superiors" so much. It was a matter of perception, Anett had explained: those who argue don't seem superior, even if they are.

Hey, Eric!

Candidates may join the wher program at 14 turns of age (Spring 05 for your character), so Anett's history will need to be adjusted accordingly to fit the turns before joining the program, and then the turns after, as well as her age at Bonding to Anesk, as well as all mentions of Anesk's age and how long they have been Bonded.

Where Anesk is concerned:

Hex code should be listed alongside the color in his description so we can better keep track of things in our records.

You mention him only being 5' when he stretches out, I just want to touch base and make sure you know that whers are measured from snout to rump, and measurements do not include the tail. 5' is the smallest a Black can be, so he is small, but he still would have an additional 55-100% (depending on how long you want) of his length in tail as well!

#CCCCCC is far too bright for a Black, you can see our gradient here the lightest in hue a Black can go is roughly #515151, so the description and your chosen font colour will need to be changed.

Large wings are great! But the information should be edited. Large wings will never grant a wher the ability to fly like a dragon, so it doesn't need to be mentioned. However, Dalibor's whers are capable of gliding by jumping from heights and opening their wings. Distance achieved is based on height they fall from, so most whers don't get to glide much anyway being that they're down on the ground, but some can! Please edit this section to mention that he's capable of gliding.

Whers Bond to their Handler through drinking their Handler's blood, Wher Candidates are given knives to open a cut on themselves and form the Bond, though some whers simply choose to bite their chosen Handler, this could be something added to your information about Anett's Bonding to Anesk.
