Upcoming Flights/Runs:

Upcoming Hatchings:
Copper Laanasuth
Copper Zelsk

With two clutches hardening on the Hatching Sands the big question seemed to be: which will hatch first?

The answer came in short order with Copper Zelsk's clutch breaking shell moments before Copper Laanasuth's. With so many eggs surely the dual hatching offers hope to the numerous Candidates who fill Dalibor's ranks. Only time will show who will come away with a lifemate of their very own...

... and who will forfeit their life in hopes of Impression.

Cold!
"Well, then get out of it." Setarii rolled her eyes at the black as she trudged along the sand, poking about for spiderclaws. "Then maybe get over here and help me." The black huffed at his handler, hopping out of the surf and padding over to where Setarii was poking at the ground with a stick.

Look over here. Setask hopped over some rocks, nosing around until his head poked up, snout covered in sand. Water is cold. Sand is sticky. Why are we looking?

"To eat, of course. Or sell. Whichever. I want to get the boy a flit."
Yes! For Sethis. We'll find.

Setarii chuckled, running a hand over the wher's head, scratching beneath the strap of his goggles. "So let me know if you find any eggs. And spiderclaws." The black dug into the sand, tearing into it until he had a sizable hole. Sand was flying in every which direction and Setarii held up an arm to block it. "Careful, you messy beast! Everyone around can see the fountain of sand you're making!"

@Captain

It was time for a stroll, Xavinyra had decided, and so she had shrugged into her jacket and made her way along the river towards the sea. It would be a bit of a hike, but she had an hour to waste and her long legs made the going rather quick. She hadn't expected to find anything but some sails on the horizon, maybe some wherries or flitts hunting in the shallows. The veritable geyser of sand was certainly far down the list of beach discoveries. A few strides later and the beastcrafter spotted the dark bulk of a wher and the lighter form of what she assumed was the handler. Well, she had time to waste, so off she went towards the pair.

"Strange way to get noticed," Xavinyra pointed out as she approached, glancing between the Black and his Handler. She had always found Whers curious; they certainly had their own quirks compared to what she considered the much more stolid Dragons. It was part of the reason she had switched to dual candidacy on her fourteenth turnday. As crazy and exciting as fighting Thread would be, surely the midnight patrols, spelunking, catching the criminals of the Weyr would be just as fun. Perhaps fun wasn't the right word, but it was what seemed to be an appropriate thought at the time.

"'M Xavinyra," the beastcrafter greeted, stepping forward and offering a hand to the Handler.

Setask's head popped out of his hole, staring at Xavinyra through his goggles. Who's this?

Setarii shrugged, but clasped the crafter's hand firmly. "Setarii, he's Setask." Her grip was bone-shaking and she grinned broadly. Setask grunted a greeting, then dropped back to his hole. "You aren't going to find anything that way, you lump-brained beast!" Setarii ambled over, grabbing the wher by the harness and hauling him out of his already impressively deep hole.

"Eggs, love. Eggs."

Eggs. Eggs. Eggs. The mantra beating steadily in their heads, Setask took off again, earning an affectionate eyeroll from his handler. "Love the critter to death," she admitted with a smile. "What brings you down to the beach? Certainly not baths in sand courtesy my overgrown lump."

Setask ambled through the sand, and Setarii set the pace, moving casually behind him and keeping an eye out as he, surely was.

Eggs. Eggs. Egg! No, rock. Eggs...

Xavinyra couldn't help but grip back in an almost obnoxious reciprocation of Setarii's grip. She would not be outdone today! The Beastcrafter smirked more than smiled, not that it was an unfriendly facial expression, stuffing her hand back into her jacket pocket once their clasp was broken.

"Pleased to meet you," was her automatic reply, both to be polite to the hand-abused Handler and out of turns of drilling. One of the few things Xavinyra still carried from her mother's ministrations that was actually used. Somehow, the Candidate managed to keep herself from laughing out loud as Setask was hauled out of the sizable hole he had managed to make for himself.

"Spirited thing, isn't he?" Xav commented, almost as if assessing a runner. "I've always heard that Blacks were quiet." She shrugged at the question, giving Setarii another smirk-grin as she stepped in time to the other's pace. "Just going on a walk. Had to get my blood flowing, is all. Isn't it a bit cold for eggs?"

Setarii grinned back, then set to work tracking her wher down. "Nothing wrong with a good walk. Keeps the blood flowing, keeps you active." Not that Setarii looked like she was the most active. She was muscled, of course, but a healthy layer of comfort fat clung to her bones. She didn't seem to mind, nor did her wher.

"He is that. Likes goals, and he has them now." She grinned. "Probably too cold, but it gets us our exercise and if we luck out, we luck out." She shrugged, poking along with her stick while the wher trundled along, pausing now and then to stuff his snout in the sand and blow air from his nose as he dug.

Rock, rock, rock. Egg! No, rock. The wher's mantra kept up steadily as he explored, Setarii close at hand. Now and then she'd have to drag him out of whatever hole he was in to encourage him on the way. And eventually Setask dove into the water, cleaning himself off and tromping back into the sand to repeat the process, sneezing and waddling along.

"Good time to be on the beach, though. No competition for good spots!" Setarii laughed, flashing a toothy grin as though there were parts of the beach people might want during this time of year...

"Keep up!" She called, trotting a good distance ahead to catch up to her wher.
