Dalibor is a semi-canon Dragonriders of Pern site. No knowledge of the series or site is required to join; players of all experience levels are welcome here. Founded in 2008 on Proboards and moved to Jcink in 2013, Dalibor has been running for eight years.

Spring, 18th Turn, 11th Pass

Upcoming Flights:
Cyan Beavaeth
Amber Era

Upcoming Hatchings:

With Mutorin of Dalibor's discovery that a number of plants found in the southern jungles can be used as a remedy to stave off the worst of the still unnamed 'plague' the fatalities seem to have tapered off. Most of Dalibor's ill have recovered, if only in time to mourn their losses. Even still a number of Dalibor's wings and prides have seen fit to transfer away following their recovery, as if the Weyr itself was responsible for such a disastrous event - not realizing the plague was spread to the far reaches of Pern by a handful of persons that broke the quarantine in their delirious state.

All things considered life is moving forward calmly for the denizens of Dalibor Weyr and its beholden Holds. Western Hold welcomes new blood in the form of a young couple, Lord Holder Basasius and Lady Holder Baria. Only time will tell what the new Lord and Lady Holder will bring to their Hold, but all are hoping for none but good fortune.

Leadership positions are not determined solely by color however the following constraints are in place for Wingleader and Wingsecond positions:

Upper Flight - 44 ft+ (Irons, Bronzes)
Middle Flight - 37 ft+ (Irons, Bronzes, Browns, Viridians, Purples)
Lower Flight - 28 ft+ (Irons, Bronzes, Browns, Viridians, Purples, Yellows, Blues, Cyans, Burgundys, Some Greens)

Wingleaders should have Wingsecond backgrounds.

Upper Flight - 37 ft+ (Irons, Bronzes, Browns, Viridians, Purples)
Middle Flight - 28 ft+ (Irons, Bronzes, Browns, Viridians, Purples, Yellows, Blues, Cyans, Burgundys, Some Greens)
Lower Flight - 18 ft+ (All dragons except Greys and most Whites)

Wingseconds are rarely picked fresh out of weyrlinghood.

All positions require player activity - if you cannot be active and available for plots, lessons, etc then it is unlikely your character will be picked over another who is. There are activity requirements listed below for the various ranks.

All positions have age considerations in place. For instance if two riders apply for a Wingsecond position who are both eligible but one has far more turns under their belt it is likely they will be picked over the younger applicant. No riders or handlers below 16 should apply.

Candidate, wherling, and weyrlingmasters are teachers of the next set of Dalibor's hopefuls and newly Impressed. Please be aware that only the most reliable Riders and Handlers will be chosen for these positions. These should be riders and/or handlers who are mature and have been bonded and graduated for 10+ turns. OOCly, these positions require the most activity from the member applying.

Applying does not guarantee that you will receive a position as soon as it becomes available, or ever; it depends upon the suitability of the character and the nature of the opening. Positions may be offered to characters who are not signed up for various reasons, but we greatly prefer people to officially apply. We do very much enjoy spreading the love around in terms of rank!

Activity Requirements

As of April 1, 2017, the following activity requirements are in place for leadership ranks. Characters holding specific ranks will need to meet these requirements to retain their rank. All of the below numbers are for a given activity period (the space of time between one activity check and the next, which is 6 months) and must span at least 2 of the 6 months.

Weyrwoman/Weyrleader (Jr & Sr) 6 posts
Alphahandler/Betahandler 6 posts
Weyrling-/Wherling-/Candidatemaster 6 posts
Wingleader/Prideleader 4 posts
Wingsecond/Pridesecond 4 posts
Lord/Lady Holder 4 posts

The above requirements will be reviewed each activity check. Members will be asked in their Activity Check post to include links to the correct number of posts. Failure to link the required number of posts falling within the span outlined above will result in the character being removed from that rank.

An officially posted hiatus will be accepted in place of ONE of a character's required posts.

Multi-character posts (i.e. posting multiple characters in the same post in hatchings, plots, feasts, etc) will count for each character included IF the character's section of the post is at least 150 words long.

Any post or partial post of sufficient length will count towards the number of posts needed to meet activity. However, players of characters in any leadership position are expected to post as needed by their role (for example, if tagged in a plot or event for a leadership reason).

Weyrlingmasters and wherlingmasters are expected to post one lesson per season, while attached to a class. Candidatemasters between each other are expected to post one lesson OR candidate-based activity per season. These roles are critical in welcoming new members (who often begin with one or more candidates, who then become weyrlings and wherlings) and providing these characters with easily accessible places to explore and demonstrate what they're like and how they act.

If a player's character is consistently not meeting these expectations, staff reserves the right to remove the character's rank as has been necessary in the past.

Posting proof of meeting activity requirements for a role in an activity check will earn 50 marks per role met. Weyrlingmasters and wherlingmasters with a class who post a lesson for each season plus the graduation on time will receive a 300-mark completion bonus at their class's graduation. Weyrlingmasters and wherlingmasters receive classes on rotation to spread the wealth.

Period: April 1-Oct 1

Bennio, Jr Weyrwoman - 6 posts required

Bennio attends the senior queen's next hatching (April). She posts twice.
Bennio dances at the hatching feast (Also April). She posts once.
Bennio has a quiet picnic lunch by the lake (June). She posts three times.

The post count requirements for Bennio are now met. However, if there's also a plot in September and someone goes BENNIO, HELP I NEED YOU, the player still needs to hit the plot if at all possible.

Character & Bonded: Ulian & White Rivath
Ulian: 29
Rivath: 10
Current Rank:
Applying for Rank:

Ulian is a very calm, and compassionate, individual who has spent their entire life in service to the needs of other people, and has found it fulfilling. As a Candidatemaster, Ulian would seek to ease the fears and burdens of those under their charge, while also putting forth lessons to help Candidates embrace their newfound responsibility, and who they are as individuals and as future team-members. Non-competitive, Ulian's teaching focus will be on nurturing unity and self-affirmation, instead of fostering what they see as an unhealthy competition between younglings who will need to learn to work together in the future.

Rivath is a sensitive and intelligent dragon, who can appear small and nonthreatening most of the time, while also offering an important lesson to Candidates about the need to be knowledgable of your dragon--as she has the ability within herself to be as violent as a Red. Protective, and empathic, she will be an annoyance for the Candidates hoping to sneak out after dark, or slip away for late-night tryst's near the waterfall. Often tender, and protective, Rivath will be the harder of the duo to impress. She will expect the best behaviour, and best performance from those under her charge, and will not hesitate to drag a Candidate back into the Barracks after-hours, or chase after someone who is shirking their duties. She will also serve as quite the guard-canine for anyone who might want to slip past her and bring harm to her pupils.

Together, the pair will offer a lot of valuable knowledge to Candidates about the future prospect of bonding a dragon, especially a bond that might be difficult, unexpected, or otherwise something less than the normal Harper ballad. Their Impression, and following Weyrlinghood, were very difficult for both of them, and their lives as Dragonriders could be seen as an alternative path, or perhaps a hopeful interlude, for some of the more cautious or Craft-oriented Candidates. A cautionary tale of control, the necessity to shed self-concerns when a baby dragon chooses you, and how to shape your life to fit the dragon that chooses you: how perfection can come in odd-shaped packages. Neither dragon, nor Rider, will hesitate to show their Candidates aspects of being a Dragonrider, such as bathing, harnesses, feeding, and etc, and will do their best to ensure each and every one of their charges will be a fine choice for any dragon that wants them.

Character & Bonded: Ra'h and Musath
Ages: 39 + 18 respectivly.
Current Rank: Wingrider
Applying for Rank: Candidatemaster

Ra'h, while being a bit of a goof, is a strong and intelligent man. He has a fondness for children and would gladly help mold his candidates into good choices for dragonets. He's ultimately very caring and understanding, which is important to candidates during the tumultuous time. Ideally, Ra'h would like himself to be seen as someone candidates can talk to and come to with their concerns, rather than just an official figure.

Though it is obvious Ra'h understands the rules. He was a candidate for some time as well. He will gladly stress the importance of the rules to his young charges. While he understands childhood rebellion and teenagers being teenagers, he also understands how important it is for candidates to focus more on their futures, than each other.

Musath, his loyal green, is likely as unthreatening as a dragon as one might meet. She is a calm and zen-like creature. And honestly is a good option for the first dragon one might meet. She understands the gravity of the situation, and often reminds her rider of the importance of virtues like patience. She combat's Ra'hs goofy nature with her own, serious nature. She will gladly take Candidates under her wing and shield them from the world when things get too serious, often offering advice from a perspective they might not have looked at before.
