Summer, 18th Turn, 11th Pass

Upcoming Flights:
Green Jasmith

Upcoming Hatchings:
Red Cyanide

Slightly chilly spring days slowly but surely grow warmer as spring gives way to summer. Already the season is proving to be an unseasonably warm one, thankfully breezes have been common giving some relief. Dalibor's denizens can be found frequenting the Weyr's lake more often than in the season before, soaking up all of Rukbat's warm rays while they last.

Though not as common as the springtime there are lingering showers that come and go; thunderstorms are suddenly more common than they were in spring. Word is spreading that Fort Weyr has had an interesting outcome at their most recent hatching: An Orange broke shell and Impressed a genderneutral Candidate.

NO INTRUDERS. IF FIND. SMASH.
The boy diverted his path from where he was walking. The shouting into his mind told him this was a wher he didn't particularly want to run into. Not that he knew precisely where she was from that particular shout.
KISK AM RUNNING THIS WAY AND THAT WAY AND THIS WAY AND THAT WAY AND RUN RUN RUN!
Peiyn stayed in the shadows as he noted the approach of the black wher and his handler. They were indeed moving at a fast pace with the wher occasionally doubling back and running circles. He watched them move away and then ran as fast as he could across the bowl and towards the kitchens.

He hadn't been able to reach out to one since the last time with the red wher but he had also stopped trying. Somehow, he thought it best not to try to speak to the whers if he was also trying to sneak by them. The crecheworkers would notice he was tired again but he didn't really care. He heard a noise and poked his head into what looked to be a training room of some kind. A blue wher and his handler were within but were seemingly distracted. Now that he was closer he recognised the wher as Naanesk and his handler Naanell. Common sights in the creche.
One, two, one two. Lift.
The blue wher had what looked to be a rather heavy rock on his back and was bending and straightening his legs whilst his handler.

He moved away from the entrance and back towards the kitchens. Night time exploring and wandering was hardly complete without a snack or two, after all. He just had to make sure he avoided the handlers walking into the Dining Hall and kitchens. It would be tricky but worth it to snatch some of the food.

OOC: hope this is okay! c:

Mommy was sleeping, but she was hungry. She had been laying in bed for a while now, long after Roselle's breathing fell into the longer breaths that indicated to the six turn old girl that her mother was fast asleep. She didn't want to wake her mommy up. Roselle was a dragonrider with important things to do, and she knew that she needed her sleep. Mommy was so pretty, that she was certain the 'beauty sleep' she'd heard tell of must have been true. Her nose scrunched up a little as her stomach growled. With a petulant sigh, she stared at the ceiling of the weyr for a moment longer, before very carefully pushing her furs back and sitting up. In the dark weyr she resided in with Roselle, she could just barely make out her surroundings. Knight, always tuned to His bonded, was also awake. The brass pillie was fretful about the fact the little girl was not asleep, and hungry. Stitch stirred on her pillow, and she frowned slightly, expression pensive.

If she were to leave Stitch behind, he might wake and cause a squalor. She gingerly picked the blue up--he was going to be full grown in a couple of seasons, and was already so much bigger than he had been--and he woke, blinking sleepily. Why were they awake? Knight did not like that Rosian was getting up, but she was hungry. He would accompany her. Sensible, he knew to be silent. Stitch, on the other hand, opened his mouth to protest being woken, and the little girl clamped a hand over it firmly. Swinging her legs out over the bed, she gave a small start when Gin, her rosey, scrambled up her arm and onto her shoulder, taking up his customary spot hiding behind her hair. Well, it looked as if she wasn't going to be sneaking off alone. She knew she wasn't supposed to go out alone, but at the same time, it warred with her not wanting to wake up mommy. Decided, she softly set her small feet on the ground, and padded over to where her clothing was neatly folded for the next day. She dressed herself so quietly and carefully, no one was the wiser. Her shoes she sat down to put on, worried that she might stumble hopping on one foot to pull them on. Yet once they were on, she stood, glancing over once more at her mother, before very, very carefully walking the distance to the weyr's door, and out it.

Knight was unbelievably quiet for all that he was a very large pillie. Sia had placed Stitch on his back so that she might get dressed--the blue customarily traveled this way, since he was getting heavy for the little girl and when he was on her shoulders now, he lay across them and caused her to stoop. Easier to carry him in her arms, and yet even then, for a six turn old to carry a large cat would not be easy for long. Even Rosian could ride on the sturdy shell of her pillie. Knight was strong, and until she was ten or so, he would bear her weight with ease. A blue firelizard was barely noted. So the girl and her trio of bonded creatures went, silently and as stealthily as they might, down the corridors. Stitch, though often troublesome, was clever. He rather enjoyed antics such as this, and when His called on him to be their eyes and look to be sure no one was up ahead--lest they have to re-route--he did so, showing her either clear corridors, or the handlers that patrolled them. She did not have Peiyn's ability to hear the whers--she would have been delighted, if she did!--but she was a bright, clever child for all that she was a mere season away from seven turns old. Unlike many children, she enjoyed her childhood. She was excited to be able to get her own dragon one day--when she was ten, she would be Standing for sure!--but being a child was fun! She didn't really want to grow up. She only wanted to be older for a dragon, and so she could do more things on her own. Yet with such wonderful parents...she was not in any particular rush to do so.

She knew her mother would not approve her sneaking out, but she had Knight with her and reasoned that it was better to go alone than to wake her. They were making fantastic progress, until they got down lower to where the dining hall and kitchens would be. Once there, there were far more handlers than in the weyr sector up above. She had to pause a lot more often, and certainly didn't think she'd bump into someone else sneaking about! Yet, sure enough, she bumped smack into someone rounding a corner. She'd made a small, quiet as possible dash around the corner to avoid a bluehandler, and ran right into Peiyn. Fortunately, she had tried to skid to a halt, and the collision was not as solid as it might have been. Knight scuttled forward to see what had happened, relaxing some when he saw it was just another child.

Another child might have asked what he was doing there, or been more startled. She simply reasoned that if he was here, he must have snuck out, too! She frowned a little, rubbing her arm lightly, and put a finger up to her lips to remind him--perhaps unnecessarily--to be quiet. She pointed to her stomach, and then in the direction of the kitchens. Childlike, she couldn't help but smile. They weren't really supposed to be here, but it was more fun if there were two of them sneaking about instead of one!

Little did Cesselia know that she was far from alone this night when she decided to slip out of the creche and into the tunnels. Guardian followed close, nudging her arm whenever he heard something. Those ears on his head were constantly swiveling, searching for noise. They were a sneaking team! Girl and icehowler both padded through the dark, darting away from patrols and hiding when they couldn't run. It was a familiar game. Some nights she was less careful and let the handlers find her in the open. A few humored her curiosity and she befriended a wher or two this way. But tonight, she didn't want to be found. She just wanted to explore. To settle the restlessness tugging at her belly and bidding her away from the comforts of bed.

Blond curls bounced against her chin as she ducked down a hallway to avoid a rather noisy handler pair. She held her breath and hurried. Suddenly, Guardian was standing stock still, one ear flicking, his head tilted to the side. Cess blinked. Up ahead were two weyrbrats.

Were they all out of the creche tonight?

Curious, Cesselia inched closer to the kids. Rosian and...Peiyn.

Huh.

Well then.

@Ruriko @Catsitta

It was good that Rosian shushed him, Peiyn thought as he clapped a hand to his mouth to stop from shouting. He had been so focused on the whers that he had forgotten to look for the humans. He moved his hand away and looked at Rosian. All the Weyrbrats kind of knew one another but Rosian was one of those lucky few. She didn't have to spend all of her time in the creche. He was about to say something when he spotted someone else. Cesselia.

What were they all doing out here? This was his thing. He was the one who snuck out at night. And they both had things following them. A pillie and a massive canine. One of the icehowlers. He had heard that they were a little dangerous and although he wasn't scared, he certainly wasn't about to do anything that would cause it alarm. Peiyn wasn't an idiot. That thing could probably rip him to shreds and still have room for a whole herdbeast in the morning.
"What are you doing out?" He demanded in a whisper.

He wished, at this point, that he had woken Rayiet but then he didn't really want his brother to get into trouble if he was caught. It was obvious that he couldn't possibly be caught by any of the whers but sometimes they tracked him down. It hadn't happened for a while. He was getting better at being able to tell roughly where they were by now.
