Winter, 18th Turn, 11th Pass
Winter is in full swing as the Northwest reaches the middle stages of the cold month, and Dalibor, taking full advantage of a crackdust filled break in Threadfall, is back at it again. Delving into the Southern ice and snow, they have paired with Grove Weyr to fully explore the lands they only slightly uncovered the previous turn during the Jungle Expedition. This, however, will not be a warm and relaxing waltz through the woods; although was it ever that to begin with?

Cayden, Wher Candidate
Member Inventory: View
Due to the way she was raised, Cay will become the kind of person to do what she feels is right in her mind rather than what others dictate she should. Stubbornness will develop, as well as making the right choices according to what she believes most--though this is sometimes affected by matters of the heart. Though she mostly kept silent and under her parent's thumbs, she is very charismatic and will have a strong voice and presence--someone who can motivate people to action and to make them listen to her when she speaks. She sees things from a unique angle and perspective, and she can often shed light and clarity on situations or problems at hand. She won't be afraid to question things, always wanting to know the facts and see the situation from all sides before making rash or snap decisions.
Cay is a fiercely loyal person, and expects the same kind of loyalty in return. For her, a relationship is very much about give and take. She is definitely the sort to give second chances, and wants to believe in people and forgive them where possible. She enjoys equality and equal footing in her relationships with others. She is non-judgmental, and wants to trust people and give them the benefit of the doubt. She tends to be very private with her feelings, yet due to her face and emotions being so strong, she has a hard time hiding what she happens to be feeling at the time. She is not always honest when it might hurt someone else, and genuinely cares about people. Sometimes due to feeling too much, she can become overwhelmed when she bottles her emotions. She always harbors guilt for lies told or mistakes made. She's very quick to beat herself up for perceived mistakes. She really does want to help others.
Cayden works well under pressure. If something needs doing, she's the sort to get out there and get it done. She has a strong sense of enacting justice and won't tolerate behavior she deems to be cruel or wrong from anyone. She will stand up for herself, and especially for others. She does try to appear more hardened than she is, and tries not to let others see weaknesses in her. She will go to great lengths to be heard and to achieve her goals. She will always stick to what she believes in, however, and this is a driving force for her.
In relationships, she isn't afraid of commitment or permanence. She tends to fall for sincerity and yet is drawn in by fierceness and strength. She admires qualities in others that she would like to have or does not see in herself, even if she does posses them. She is the kind of person anyone would want at their back, as she will always be there for a person once she grows to care for them, even if it takes her time to get close to them and she is careful who she calls her friend. She tends to try to hang on too hard sometimes for fear of losing someone she cares about, yet for that same reason, she will push people too hard. In a relationship, she is very jealously protective of the person she is with. She is one hundred percent about loyalty and commitment and she's not looking elsewhere when she's with someone. Often this jealousy can spur her mistakes or allow her emotions to escape her. Her actions are impulsive in the face of losing someone she cares about, and she becomes much less calculated than her usual self.
Even though she stands at 5'5", Cay seems to have more of a presence than her mere height would dictate. Her build is quite toned as her mother stressed the importance of good eating and exercise for good health. She has an ample bust and curves in the right places, and her legs appear longer even though she is not that tall. Blue-grey eyes are very expressive. She struggles to hide emotion as is, and her face and expressiveness give even more away. Her hair is a light, almost bright, blond, and manages to stay mostly straight though it is definitely wavy, slightly curled. Her complexion is moderately fair, but not overly so. She doesn't burn easily, as she spends a lot of time in the sun, but does hold a decent tan. Her hands are deft an agile, used to delicate and hard work. She is lighter on her feet, and is both stronger and faster than she might at first look.
Cayden tends, like her mother, to dress practically. She does prefer earthy tones, however, and if given much choice tends towards that. She can dress nicely enough, when she wants, and yet it is rare since it is not often called for. Healers are expected to get dirty with blood or mess. This habit of practical dress will be something that carries over even as she changes direction in her life. She will often tie back the front portion of her hair so that it is out of her face, either into a single braid or tie at the back of her head. She isn't much one for jewelry, again, simply because it is not practical. No one can say the girl doesn't clean up nicely, though. It often surprises people to see her in Gather wear.
Jeoden (Father, Mastersmith, 48)
Caylenia (Mother, Masterhealer, 44)
Cayden led what would seem to be a near perfect life, where her path was always clear and laid out for her. Born to a Journeyman Smith and Journeyman Healer, it was decided from a young age that she would pursue the Healing craft the moment she came of age, and her parents would pay her way until she became a Journeyman. So it was that Cayden came into the world, a life already laid out for her, with little say or choices of her own. Still, she loved her parents, even if her father and her didn't always see eye to eye. She wanted to make them proud.
As a child she did well at lessons. Bright, and eager to please as a child, she was likable, fairly social, but careful whom she chose to call a friend. Her parents were quite traditional and hide bound, and by the time Cay began to understand that she viewed both boys and girls similarly, she kept this to herself. Above all, she didn't want to disappoint her parents. She went along with their wishes, despite a nagging feeling that maybe, just maybe, there were choices out there other than the path they'd laid for her. Her mother, whom she was especially close to, had a dream for her daughter to follow the same life she had, and she knew what it meant to her, and the work she was putting in to pay the marks necessary for her to attend Healer Hall.
Since they lived at Fort, it was easy for Cay to attend the Healer Hall and see her parents. Her mother was constantly busy with her Healer's work, and due to this, Cay was her only child. The girl felt like all of her mother's hopes and dreams were resting upon her shoulders, never mind her father had the same desires for her life path. At Healer Hall, she excelled, thanks to the fact she also had her mother, now a Masterhealer, to give her extra teaching and help her in her studies. Still, though she did well, and her parents were proud, that feeling of wondering if she actually had other choices in life persisted. It constantly warred with Cay's feeling she didn't want to disappoint them. The feeling just didn't go away, despite that. She did it out of a sense of duty and love for them--mostly for her mother. Still, in her heart, where only she knew, she knew that something just wasn't right. She was restless at night, and often dreamed of another life for herself. She imagined all the different things she might do. Did she even like healing? She liked helping people, that much was true. She was good at it. But would she have chosen it, had she the choice? She was almost afraid to answer that.
Then, when she was seventeen turns, everything changed. Her mother was called to aid the riders of Fort Weyr during Threadfall, when one of the Weyr's healers fell ill. It was routine enough. She'd gone before, many times. Yet this time was not like those times. Freak accidents can and do happen, and it was no one's fault. A rider and his dragon were badly scored, and the came out of between a little further out than the grounds the wings were covering. Caylenia was a brave woman, and when she saw them go down, went to them. Thread fell, and the dragons above noticed it too late. Caylenia was caught by a large clump, and perished in the most painful way any person on Pern can imagine. She hadn't even managed to save the rider, and his dragon betweened. It was the Wingleader that brought the news.
Cayden was in lessons at the Hall when someone came to get her and told her she needed to go home immediately. She knew something was wrong. A feeling in her gut told her something was very, very wrong. When she arrived at home, her father was pale and not even able to speak. She knew, before the Wingleader even uttered the words. She couldn't even cry. She was shocked, she felt like someone had just ripped her world in two, and she couldn't even cry. She hated herself for it, as she didn't understand why, and no matter how much it hurt, no tears came.
Her father wanted her to return to lessons, but she couldn't do it. Her mother had died for nothing. That's how she felt, and she felt guilty for it. She knew her mother was brave, and that what she'd done, risking her life, had been the bravest thing anyone could have done. Only instead of being able to accept that, she felt that the rider and dragon had been lost, and her mother had died, and what was it all for? The person she loved most was gone. She couldn't cry. Nothing would make it okay. Her father was different. Angrier. They fought constantly, and though he had his way and she continued her lessons, it was like she was a different person. Emptier, and with less purpose. Why was she there? Had she ever wanted to be there to begin with? Why stay, now?
She was supposed to walk the tables. She would have been a Journeywoman. Only the day of the ceremony, she couldn't do it. What she did do, was go to Fort Weyr on runner-back, and ask to be brought to a Weyr, any Weyr. She needed to get away, she told them she was going to be a wher candidate and, after much discussion with the Alphahandler of Fort, it was decided they'd allow it. Her determination and her success in her lessons were likely the deciding factors. Still, she wasn't feeling stable, and she just needed to get away. She who had never chosen anything for herself since the day she was born, chose to leave.

Cayden was made as a character to RP as a couple down the line with Riven. Literally made for this purpose. If possible, I'd appreciate it if her and Riven might bond at the same time. If it could be taken into serious consideration, I'd appreciate it on my end, I know.
Only very minor, nothing lasting mauling allowed. Nothing above the neck, nothing beyond minor scarring, or perhaps a temporary broken limb.
Preferences will be subject to change as I Impress with others. Things will likely alter and open up, as necessary, but I do want to give a chance to get different dragons and not all the same or fighters.
