Winter, 18th Turn, 11th Pass
Winter is in full swing as the Northwest reaches the middle stages of the cold month, and Dalibor, taking full advantage of a crackdust filled break in Threadfall, is back at it again. Delving into the Southern ice and snow, they have paired with Grove Weyr to fully explore the lands they only slightly uncovered the previous turn during the Jungle Expedition. This, however, will not be a warm and relaxing waltz through the woods; although was it ever that to begin with?

Hero of Time

Age Out Date:
Attentive: The girl is a great listener, mostly because she doesn't say much herself. She likes to listen to others, allowing them to unburden themselves if they so wish. She is the Fort Knox of secrets, and will never betray another persons trust. Elle understands the value of secrets and how information in the wrong hands breeds danger. She tries her best to be open, and welcoming. She wants people to trust and confide in her, given that she's had no one all these turns. She hates the thought of anyone feeling truly alone.
Calm: The small girls disposition is best described as calm. Little riles her, unless met with a true injustice. She strives to stand for all that is good in the world. She has rather high standards, and as a moralistic individual she refuses to go against what she believes to be right. (Though, in past, this often meant accepting her fathers consequences). She's quite a down-to-earth, level-headed, child. Mature for a girl her age, she is rarely blinded by emotions. Not at all impulsive, her decisions are based out of logic.
Disciplined: The girl has a remarkable level of control for her age. She is reserved, when it comes to outwardly displaying her emotions, and is an individual capable of sound reasoning. She understands the need for discipline, and how there can be a time and place for everything. She favours a routine that is capable of aiding in productivity. Organized, the girl prefers to have a plan. While she considers herself to be adaptable, it bothers her to have her plans spoiled. Not at all daunted by change and new circumstances, Elle is used to having to go with the flow.
Independent: Elle has been taking care of herself since she could walk and talk. Her mother grew bored of her rather quickly, and so the girl was forced to become independent early on. Proficient at cooking, cleaning, and dressing herself, Elle rarely requires anyone's help. She's quiet, for the most part, and knows how to make herself scarce. The small girl is the furthest thing form a burden, able to carry her own weight. She prefers to take care of herself now, often turning down offers of aid.
Aloof: Elle prefers her space. She is not a child that enjoys hugs, or pats of affection. She likes for others to respect her bubble, and keep their hands to themselves. She finds it difficult to connect with others, though she is perfectly content to make acquaintances. The girl does not lack sociability so much as the ability to form attachments. Her trust is hard-won, thanks to her fathers treatment of her and her siblings. She wants to open up to people, but finds it difficult to do so.
Resentful: While this is a part of her she is, presently, unable to acknowledge, Elle does bear resentment in her heart. She feels as if her life would have been different had Zaephor and Zel not left. She knows that, largely, she has done the same. She promised herself that she would go back for her younger sister, and has every intention of fulfilling her promise. Elle is trying her best to be forgiving, but forgiveness is a sore spot for her. Once her good favour is lost, it is at risk of being lost forever. The girl, typically, doesn't hand out second chances.
Secretive: The girl has many secrets, all of which she plans to keep. She would never tell someone else's secret, regardless of the payout. She respects the privacy of all others, including strangers. In turn, the girl expects the same treatment from others. While Elle is very aware that not all people are inherently good, she suspects that each individual has the ability to choose good. Her secrets are for her, and her alone, until a time when she is better able to cope with the idea of letting someone else in.
Touchy: Elle doesn't often realize how things effect her. When people are cruel, or judgmental, she'll often walk away. She is not the sort that retaliates and engages in argumentative behaviour. However, the things people say do haunt her thoughts. She is not, often, as strong as she portrays herself to be. The child is hard-pressed to forget another's cruelty. She often takes people at their word, rarely bothering to delve deeper in order to discover hidden meanings.
Dirty blond hair falls in waves over the small girls shoulders. Her eyes are a hazel in coloration, favouring a spring green tone with a lighter brown around her iris. For all that she's ten turns old, there is an elegance about her. The child's appearance could even be deemed delicate, what with her slight frame and smaller stature. Her skin is an even tone, and porcelain smooth. The girls mouth is the most expressive feature she possesses, for she is often seen smiling. One often need only to observe the downward twist of her lips to gauge her emotions. Rather practiced at keeping her emotions in check, her ability to still herself is rather noteworthy.
Easily cold, Elle tends to wear lots of sweaters and thickly-lined pants. Her favourite colours are grey and yellow, though the former is what she wears most. She is rarely seen in a t-shirt, much preferring long sleeves. She, somehow, always appears tanned despite her lack of Rukbat exposure. Her feet seem to be growing faster than the rest of her, and so she is always looking for new shoes. Unlike many girls her age, she is not the biggest fan of jewellery. She dresses very casually, which is unsurprising given her age.
Phorrellen (father) - drudgeworker
Zaaea (mother) - drudgeworker

Born to a pair of drudges, Elle never believed she was destined for greatness. She was not the sort of girl that wanted for much, thankful for what she was given. The second youngest of six siblings, she was well aware by the age of three that her father wanted nothing to do with her and her sisters. Her only brother, whom she scarcely recalls, was gone shortly after her third turn-day. Zaephor never came back, and so she grew up with the understanding that he never would. Zaephor was not the only one to leave, for several Turns later Zel was to follow. A mere six turns at the time, Elle was not willing to risk her fathers wrath in order to ask Zel to stay. The younger girl didn't want to lose any more of her siblings, not when they were all she had. Despite her wishes Zel was taken away by the dragonmen, therefore three of her sisters still remained.
Elle did her best to stay out of their fathers way. A gentle soul, with a kind heart, the girl often earned herself the mans rebuke. Never quite sure what she'd done wrong, she was soon smart enough to realize that she wasn't the problem at all. Not the sort to have her spirit easily broken, Elle kept her chin up in hopes of better days to come. She did her best to look after her youngest sister, and raise the spirits of the twins. She tried her best to be a pillar for their broken little family, secretly hoping that an opportunity may someday fall into her lap. She wished to be like Zaephor and Zel, who had escaped this place. Hope Hold was rightly named, for she would not allow her fathers quick temper and heavy-hand to steal her hope from her.
She spoke to her first dragonrider at the age of eight, and it earned her a beating of a lifetime by her father. He swore that he would not lose another of his children to the dragonmen. He needed the last of his girls to take care of their meagre holdings, and perform the work he abhorred. She had never had the opportunity to see her father as little more than a monster, given his treatment of his entire family. His words were thoughtless, and careless, and there were few people who could stand his company towards the end. Elle was not willing to simply do as she was bade, regardless of her fathers attempts to make her feel caged. She wanted to be free, and so she would be.
Zel and Zaephor's letter changed everything. The hide was thrown among the days garbage, and soon to be burned. Elle seized it, bravely, and read its contents before putting it back where she'd found it. In large part, she had her brother and sister to thank for her eventual freedom. Once she knew where they were, and that they were okay, she desired nothing more than to be with them. She wasn't sure that she could leave her younger sister behind, but promised herself she would come back for her once she had the means. She wasn't sure how, or whether the Weyr would even want her, but she wasn't willing to give up until she made it.
It was an Ista rider that came along one day and made her dream a reality. She was out gathering whatever scraps she could find for her family to sell when the woman, a bluerider, was quick notify her that she'd been Searched. The instant the woman laid the opportunity before her, she snatched it up. Elle didn't hesitate, knowing full well this would be her only chance to escape. Eager to put her former life behind her, the small girl did not dishonour her family by sharing the details of what she and her siblings had endured. Instead, she told the woman of her family-at Dalibor Weyr. Arrangements were soon made for her to transfer there instead, since she was young and likely to benefit from having her family close-by.
Elle took nothing with her, having only pretended to go home and retrieve her belongings. She was not willing to face her father. Instead her father could wonder, for the duration of the time she was gone, whether she was alive or dead. She wondered whether the man would even care which it was... Her mother, timid creature that she was, barely acknowledged her own children. No, they would not miss her. Her sisters may, but someday she would return. She would not forget them. She would finally come to know Zaephor and Zel, and in the process start a journey of her own.
